August 9, 2025 – A tragic accident occurred this morning when a special express train traveling from Sungai Kolok and Padang Besar to Bangkok derailed at Kui Buri Station, resulting in ten injuries. The incident took place at approximately 5:20 AM on Saturday and involved the last three air-conditioned sleeper cars of Train No. 46 from Padang Besar, which derailed on a curve entering Kui Buri District.

According to reports from Khaosod, rescue and medical teams responded promptly to the scene, providing assistance to the injured and transporting them to Kui Buri Hospital. Passengers were also redirected onto buses to continue their journey to Bangkok. The affected train cars were subsequently stabilized, and efforts are underway to clear the wreckage.

The injured include Mrs. Nil Kaewkongin, Ms. Thipsuda Kaewkongin, Miss Palita Numrom, Ms. Jarinree Kunachon, Ms. Kanda Thaweesuk, Ms. Phairin Nokkaew, Mrs. Phanit Kongnok, Mr. Linciann Foong (a Malaysian national), Ms. Sitthabongkorn Rujirayanyong, and Ms. Yaowanat Mangkala. Medical personnel confirmed that most injuries are minor; three patients have been discharged, while others are receiving ongoing care.

The accident site is located on a double-track section, which has prevented disruption to southbound trains and those heading to Bangkok, as they are able to switch tracks to continue their journeys. The State Railway of Thailand has deployed additional transportation to accommodate stranded passengers and is utilizing heavy machinery to expedite the wreckage clearance.

Authorities, including Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Mr. Sitthichai Sawat-saen and Kui Buri District Chief Mr. Aram Yankaeo, along with officials from the Regional Prevention and Mitigation Center 4, traveled to the scene to coordinate rescue and salvage operations. Railway officials have initiated an investigation into the cause of the derailment, and recovery efforts to salvage the derailed cars are expected to be completed within the day.

Governor Sitthichai assured the public that arrangements are in place to assist affected passengers and highlight that most injuries are minor, with some individuals already discharged from the hospital. The Railway Authority continues to prioritize safety and ongoing investigations to prevent future incidents.
